Destiny Card Catalog
Have you been to Destiny, the Valparaiso Community Schools on-line card catalog lately? If not, you might want to check it out.
I have added new “visual search buttons” to make it easier for students to find books. There are new search buttons for Accelerated Reader, Barbie & Princess, Super Heroes, Scooby-Doo, Star Wars, World Record Books, Pokemon and Holidays just to name a few.
Directions on how to access Destiny and the visual search buttons are below:
Go to the VCS website http://www.valpo.k12.in.us/ and scroll down to click on the picture of the Destiny Card Catalog Tree. Or click on the Destiny Card Catalog Tree on this page, or use the Accelerated Reading Quizzes link above.
1. Click on “Cooks Corners”.
2. Click on the “Catalog” tab.
3. Click on the “Visual” tab on the far right of the screen.
4. Click on the picture “button” of your choice.
If you choose the “AR Books” bookworm picture button, it will take you to the next screen where AR titles are separated by levels.
AR Books
Just choose the colored number button to see all Cooks Corners Library AR titles in that reading level. The colored number buttons match the color coded dots that are on the book spines in our library. Levels 9 and 10 have book titles from within all Valpo Schools, as Cooks Corners AR selections at those levels is rather limited.
Students may login from the button at the top right of the screen to hold books or add them their resource list (Instructions for using these features are on the Destiny Home Access link above.) which can then be printed out and brought to the library.
