Meet our Principal

Hello! My name is Mike Rayson. I have earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Indiana University Northwest. I began my career in education as a special education teacher with the Griffith Public Schools. It was there that I was fortunate enough begin my journey in school administration. In 2017 I joined the staff at Flint Lake Elementary in the Valparaiso Community Schools as a dean of students. From there I was provided the opportunity to become the principal of Central Elementary in 2019. Between the 2020 / 2021 and 2023 / 2024 Schools years, I had the immense pleasure of serving as the principal of Parkview Elementary. I am thrilled and honored to begin my tenure as the principal of Cooks Corners in the Fall of 2024. 

 

As a father of two incredible kids, I know firsthand how much trust parents have in our teachers. The Cooks Corners staff and I aim to uphold that trust and provide our students with an environment that is safe and conducive to learning everyday. At Cooks Corners, we strive to encourage students to set goals while we provide the supports necessary to reach those goals. Helping our kids realize their full potential and become the best versions of themselves is what drives us. 

 

I promise that you and your students will get our best everyday. They will be welcomed, safe, educated and loved from the moment they step though our doors and beyond.
